The Best Part of Christmas

Christmas is a very busy time of year with all the hustle and bustle and a lot of planning for some type of Christmas play. A typical Christmas play revolves around the Nativity, and the cast consists of Mary, Joseph, angels, Shepherds, the three kings, and a baby Jesus. The Christmas play set is not necessarily simple because depending on what part of the play you start at it can have multiple sets and a large cast. With the fact that the cast consists of an infant you need a very tolerant and flexible cast for the baby in the Christmas play.

Even though the Nativity is a popular Christmas play, there are a lot of other plays set around Christmas that are for people and cast members of all denominations, such as a narrative to T'was the Night Before Christmas, The Grinch, and a Christmas Carol to name a few. Each set would be uniquely different not simple at all, and very time consuming especially a version of The Grinch, the set would be colorful, and whimsical, and a Christmas play whether the Nativity or one of the unconventional plays would be time consuming for the cast, the set crew and everyone involved in making the magic happen. But that's what is special about Christmas time is the magic that makes it all happen, whether it's the happiness of the cast or the colors of the set people enjoy a Christmas play to get into the holiday spirit.

For the cast of a Christmas play it is a fun idea to get children involved because Christmas is really directed towards them. There are so many ways to incorporate children into the cast whether it's angels in the Nativity, or in a choir, elves, and of course any part specifically designed for a child. But parts for younger children in a Christmas play should be simple not 30 plus lines it's intimidating for a child especially in front of a ton of people.

Even the minutes before a Christmas play can be stressful on the cast and so having multiple rehearsals and a final run through will ease the stress and tension and make the Christmas play a success. It's not always about talent when it comes to a Christmas play but the unity that Christmas brings, most plays are very flexible with their rehearsal times because the cast usually consists of regular people.

When planning a Christmas play creativity is key and keeping in mind who the audience is. A school Christmas play won't be a religious play, while a family get together could be, it's all about preference and remembering what Christmas is all about. Spreading joy and holiday cheer and being together as friends and family and enjoying the creative plays that people work very hard to create. The best part of Christmas is the fact that there isn't a specific Christmas play that needs to be performed and can be super fun to put together for everyone to enjoy. Holiday Plays
